Fetch Me George Mason!

The 1st Annual Spirit of Mason Gran Fondo is a recreational ride that goes from the GMU Fairfax Campus to Gunston Hall and Back on October 28th, 2017.

This fund raiser in support of Mason Cycling’s road season will celebrate the 225th anniversary of the passing of the Author of the Bill of Rights, George Mason, on October 7th, 1792.

Proceeds from this event will also go to support Gunston Hall historical non-profit organization.

In honor of his accomplishments during the Revolutionary War, his contribution to the creation of the United States Constitution, and for a cycling twist on a macabre Halloween event, the Mason Cycling Club is hosting a Gran Fondo.

This event will detail a route that goes from the George Mason Statue on the Fairfax Campus to Gunston Hall — the location of George Mason’s final resting place — and then back in a symbolic gesture to bring Mason’s “spirit” back to the school that bears his name.

The complete trip from the George Mason Statue to the Gunston Hall Cemetary and back is roughly 50 miles.

Both mountain or road categories will be avaiable when pre-registration for this event opens on September 18th, 2017.
